A Health, Wellness & Sustainable Living Festival

The mission of World Wellness is to inspire, empower, educate and connect people so that they can create happier and healthier lives for themselves, their families, and communities.

World Wellness Weekend is a festival of wellness representing a multi-dimensional, complimentary view of health, wellness and sustainable living. World Wellness Weekend has featured such renowned speakers as  Deepak Chopra, Robert Kennedy Jr., Martin Luther King III, Dr. Jean Houston, T.Harv Eker, Joe Vitale and Mark Victor Hansen. 

World Wellness Weekend will return to Austin May 31-June 1, 2008 at the Austin Convention Center featuring NY Times bestselling authors and speakers,  Marianne WilliamsonMarci Shimoff, John Gray; music with Michael Franti, Papa Mali, Afrofreque,  an Eco-Fashion Show, Body Choir and  Michael Franti's powerful documentary movie about the human cost of war "I Know I'm Not Alone".

A Friday Night Opening Celebration has just been added, featuring Bill Phillips speaking on "Transformation", followed with live music with Afrofreque with their Afro-funk hip hop grooves and another surprise special guest TBA.  Fitness guru Bill Phillips, former owner of EAS supplements and author of the world's bestselling fitness book "Body for Life" will be sponsoring the Celebration as a launch for his new company, Bill Phillips Right Nutrition.

Houston native, Marianne Williamson, an internationally acclaimed author and speaker will grace the World Wellness stage on Sat. May 31st.  She has published 9 books including the #1 New York Times bestsellers, A Return to Love and Everyday Grace. In December 2006, a NEWSWEEK magazine poll named Williamson one of the fifty most influential baby boomers.  Austin favorites, Papa Mali featuring Carolyn Wonderland, Gurf Morlix & More  doing their funky, reggae,  soul, rock, swamp boogie and beyond dance party will follow Marianne's presentation in a celebration of wellness.

Singer, songwriter and social activist, Michael Franti will entertain and uplift with his brand of conscious music in a special acoustic performance Sunday with guitarist extraordinaire evening to close WWW. Franti has over 8 CD’s out with his band, Spearhead, and his powerful documentary film, I Know I’m Not Alone.  In the film, Franti travels to Iraq, Israel and Palestine with his guitar, a few friends and some cameras.  The film, will screen as part of the WWW Expo at 10am Sun.  Other projects include a yoga DVD, and a newly released children’s book, What I Be. 

Marci Shimoff, author of the new, instant runaway bestseller, Happy for No Reason: 7 Steps to Being Happy from the Inside Out, will open the Sunday Evening Program at 7:00pm.   Her book offers a revolutionary approach for experiencing deep and lasting happiness. Marci is also the woman's face of the biggest self-help book phenomenon in history, Chicken Soup for the Soul.  In addition, she’s a featured teacher in the international film and book sensation, The Secret.

Joe Vitale, also known as Mr. Fire, and also featured in the hit movie and book, The Secret, will make his second appearance at World Wellness after a standing room only appearance last year.  Author of far too many books to mention here, he wrote the bestseller, The Attractor Factor: 5 Easy Steps for Creating Wealth (or anything else) from the Inside Out. It became a #1 bestseller twice, even beating the latest Harry Potter book.

The "Billy Crystal" of relationship wellness, John Gray, author of Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus will entertain with highlights from his newest book, Why Venus and Mars Collide which explores the biological and physiological causes of stress in relationships and how these factors can be balanced through diet, exercise and communication.  Paradise's new guardian, Ed Mercer, entreprenuer,  philanthropist and eco-activist, will speak about his sustainable development in Costa Rica.

In his second appearance of the Weekend, Bill Phillips, former owner of EAS nutritional supplements and author of the world's bestselling fitness book, Body for Life,  will challenge the audience to transform their bodies and minds in 2008. His easy to follow program has helped thousands of people worldwide reach their mental and physical potential.  As a special gift from Bill and WWW the first 500 attendees to his presentation will receive his books, Body for Life and Eating for Life FREE.  In her first ever Austin appearance, the dynamic Niurka will engage the audience with her highly energetic and entertaining presentation using her Laws of Supreme Influence.

Adding new dimensions to World Wellness, the Austin event includes an Eco-Fashion Show featuring fun, funky & sustainably produced fashions, Austin's Body Choir dance jam, and a vibrant Wellness Expo with 150 booths and an extraordinary educational opportunity by offering over 80 classes, presentations and workshops. Attendees are able to explore new paths to wellness in all aspects of life including creating financial prosperity, healthy relationships, “greener” lifestyles and sustainable living, as well as ways to increase physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.

Our Eco-Partners, ChicoBag and Klean Kanteen will be on hand to help you create a more sustainable lifestyle.  ChicoBag will be giving away their unique re-usable shopping bag that fits in a purse or pocket to the first 250 people in  the Expo Sat. & Sun.  Klean Kanteen will be encouraging the use of  re-fillable water bottles by  providing FREE purified  water to all attendees.

As an interactive event, attendees are invited to sample organic foods and nutritional products; enjoy a mini-massage, acupuncture or other healing treatments; relax using meditation techniques and tools; learn about solar energy and green building techniques; watch healthy cooking demos; shop for handcrafted, local and Fair Trade products; discuss concerns with thought leaders in the field; connect with like-minded people in the community; and so much more.  Music, film and other special events help create a festive, thought provoking,  and positive atmosphere that can be enjoyed  by all.

All inclusive Sat./Sun. Passes are $59 advance, $65 at the door (if available).  Single Day reserved seats are $39 advance, $45 at the door (if available).  All reserved seats for the Evening Programs include FREE Expo day passes for admission into all events for that day.  Single Day Expo day passes are $15-available at the door or in advance.  Expo Day Passes include admission to all  WWW events until 7:30pm on Sat. and 6:30pm on Sun.  Kids under 12 admitted to Expo FREE with adult.  Fri. Opening Celebration passes will only be available at the door for $15/person.

In three years WWW has expanded from it’s original Chamber of Commerce sponsored community event in the town of Ashland, Oregon (population 20,000) to hosting 8 events in 4 major cities including Albuquerque NM, Denver CO, San Jose CA and Austin, TX.
